So on the holiday weekend, Kano and I went and took in the movie that finally overtook Avengers in the theaters. Men in Black III received my apprehension at first. Will Smith going back in time? Not a lot of Tommy Lee Jones? No Frank? No Zed? What’s there to watch? However, the movie was a solid 106 minutes of entertainment.
The main focal point of the movie is the relationship between K and J. So the emotions do get triggered a lot more than the other two movies. However, it does not deter from the movie. In fact it actually makes the movie even better. Without giving away too many spoilers, I will share with you whom the villain is.
Sweet bike aside, Boris the Animal (but don’t call him that to his face) does a great job counter balancing the Men in Black. He is one of the most sadistic and evil villains ever in a Men in Black movie. It is the perfect counter balance to the increased emotional ties the movie brings in. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s on a sweet motorcycle.
But at the end of the movie, I have to say that the movie was superb. Michael Stuhlbarg absolutely was the gem of the movie. He provided a great balance to everything else in the movie. Even though his character goes by Grif and that has an ominous name to it for all that know Red Vs. Blue, it’s an excellent character.
So go out and have some fun and have the emotional heart strings get pulled. It’s a well done movie and not just another money grab. Have fun and enjoy the third (and hopefully last) Men in Black movie.
