One of the residual memories from Comic Con is this picture to the left, the concept of it still intrigues me. Goku vs Superman, what a showdown. Ever since I passed by the booth of Javier Cruz Winnik, and I saw this picture I have had the question on my mind. Who would win? Both have pushed themselves beyond what their bodies should handle to defend the Earth. Both have died, and then came back multiple times. So if it came down to it, who would win?
If we did a comparison of powers, and strengths then it wouldn’t show much difference between the 2. It wouldn’t be enough to gauge the battle. Goku can channel his Chi into a blast powered by his Energy, where Superman can shoot lasers out of his eyes that is powered by his pure strength of will. So both would balance each other out to some point, and while this would make a great light show battle they would both know this is not how they would win. Let’s not forgot Supermans freeze breath, it might help him once or twice, but Goku would wise up to it and avoid it.
Next, both have super strength, and super speed. This means hand 
to hand combat would be pretty intense but, Goku might have a slight advantage knowing martial arts. However it can be argued that Martial Arts play no part in fighting skill in the DBZ world. If you look back at the monsters, robots, and Aliens Goku fought, none of them were actually trained in any martial arts like Goku so Superman could probably go toe to toe based on speed alone.
I think this fight would fall down to the very source of each contender. What are their power sources? They are 2 totally different beings. Superman holds back his true strength in a lot of battles, then if needed will unleash hell upon his opponent. Superman gathers strength from Earths yellow sun, while Goku on the other hand has different tiers of his own strength. Super Saiyan levels 1-3 and then a 4th transformation which people argue is not a Super Saiyan level since he does not have gold hair. So that can be argued, but it still doesn’t change the fact that he can gather copious amounts of strength from these 4 transformations and I feel these 4 levels could go beyond Supermans own strength. So Goku could be stronger than Superman for a while, but Goku doesn’t have the sun to keep giving him strength so Superman might be able to outlast Goku’s transformation forms since Goku can only remain in those forms for so long before it uses all his energy.
Finally after the battle is nearly over, there are still the final attacks. Superman doesn’t really have a finishing move other than revitalizing himself with the sun. But Goku, Goku has 2 final attacks that not only do heavy damage, but could cause the enemy to de-materialize from them. One is the random super Dragon Punch he can do in SSJ3, and finally is the Spirit Bomb which was thought to be pointless until they brought it back in GT when he used it as a Super Saiyan and it gathered it’s energy from the entire galaxy. Yes, a galaxy worth of power is at Goku’s disposal, given he had enough time to gather it all then will it into a blast to hit Superman, and he could always miss, and you only get 1 chance really with that attack before the galaxy that gave you the energy gets pissed at you for wanting more.
So who would win? Good question, I want to say Goku, but I feel Superman might have be able to hold his own for a while. I do know that this would be an honorable fight, no kryptonite would need to be used. Goku wouldn’t do that, he would want the challenge. So based on the info above, who do you think would win? Who do you think needs to be a contender? Terry Bogard perhaps?

I think I would have to agree with you, however Goku doesn’t regain energy as fast as Superman can. He just has to fly to the sun for a few, Goku would need some senzu beans to be able to hold his own.

Good fight scenario, Superman would win. He is far more durable than Goku ever has been and also can survive in the vacuum of space, so he simply could knock Goku into the atmosphere. That and basically being a living battery, the fights is Supe’s especially if it was on Namek w/ no nighttime.

I was a fan of DBZ long before Superman, so I know the full capabilities of both. Goku is fast but Superman has reversed the earth’s rotation and can move at speeds faster than the speed of light. Goku’s teleportation is just the transfer of molecules from one point to another, but Superman can use his Telescopic/Super vision to track his movements. Strength wise, Superman has pushed the Earth away from the Sun as another being was pushing it towards it, I haven’t seen Goku do that. Superman is also capable of matching Goku’s hand to hand combat skills since he has been trained by Wildcat, Wonder Woman, and Batman(Master Martial Artist). Eventually Goku will tire during the fight cause we all know he needs to eat a lot and frequently, but Supes is Self-Sufficient and does need to eat or sleep while under the yellow sun and I doubt he’ll wait for Goku to chant and fire an energy beam at him. So Goku can try and find the time use the Spirit Bomb, the technique that takes an hour to charge, so he can blow up the planet (weak way to win). But we all know who can survive without being on a planet and it’s not the Saiyan. But i still love Goku.

Superman could win But goku would win cuz Goku is faster superman and that goku can teleport and superman can’t if superman knocks out goku in the atmosphere goku will teleport and kill him with the space rocks/ with the kamaha!/ spirtBomb. superman suck my ballz tho i like u but will Win Goku is the strongest Saiyan

I too know for a FACT, Superman WILL Win.
. there is a lot of evidense thats supports it, by going back to the comics, Superman has a lot of abilities that common people who didnt read them didnt even know he has. today DC doesnt nearly as exploit them as they used to, instead today they make almost every fight a struggle for him just to keep people on the edge of their seats.
*however there exists such comic strips “ON ME” where Superman does the following*
A. (Flies at a Speed where TRILLIONS of Miles are Spanned in Seconds, a Text Box says so)
B ( Sneezes and Destroys an entire Dead solar system with it )
C ( Can move up to the Speed where his body becomes Intangible )
D ( Holds a BLACK Hole in the Palm of his hand )
E ( Escapes a DOUBLE BLACK HOLE )
F ( Fights on the Surface of the Sun – to Disprove the Solar Flare tactic)
And More… This fight is NOT even a Close fight.. ill give everyone a Grant that Goku is an almighty Powerful character..and i too grew up with Dragon Ball Z being my childhood
but this is Fu**ing SUPERMAN… out of ANYONE AND EVERYONE’s LEAGUE

I’m pretty sure Goku could do all of this if he was given the opportunity. I feel Superman was only able to prove he can do these tasks, because he was faced with that situation. That shows Superman has a great spirit, but so does Goku. I think if Goku faced these situations he would able to overcome them, probably not in the same way as Superman, but in his own Goku Fashion.

Settled Goku grabs Superman instant transmission to a red sun planet and ka-me-ha-me-haaaaaaa. Under the earths atmosphere superman is only known to go 7,200,000 mph.Flash v2 # 209. In JLA vol 3 #21, Superman explicitly states, “I’m not faster than light–!” Superman v2 #217 Superman mentions saying that Superman must restrict his airspeed in atmosphere:

u guys cant forget how goku can mix with vegeta those to combined will take out superman in under a minute but goku alone may have some trouble with superman but goku will overcome superman because goku has more spirit.plus he as the spirit bomb and kamehameha.

while i have the image of the picture directly from the comic it was from, i cant place the exact issue, it was a story where a villian got Superman sick for the first time in his life, and Superman was forced to fly out into a long dead galaxy with evacuated planets similar to our own and when he sneezed, the image shows the sneeze literally destroying all the planets and stars in the way. you can probably look it up on google pretty easilly, while i do love Goku and DBZ, its Superman. there isnt a force that can beat him because he’s not really supposed to be beaten in the long run.

OOH! The Fusion dance would give them the advantage in strength, but it would only be a for a small amount of time(isn’t it like 30 mins?) then they would be both be tuckered out.. However they would have be a great advantage, but remember this is a fair fight. No other Saiyans.

oh, and as for Super Strength, it should not be put to question that Superman has lifted the planet or planets and moved them with his strength alone. where as Goku/fusion characters regardless struggle lifting outrageously huge things in general… you argue that a fusion character would be better for the fight, but in the Majin Buu Saga, Goku himself was able to put an end to Majin buu, not any fusions. as for Goku’s attacks. they aren’t instant hits aside from smaller Ki blasts and some quick thrust punches, i doubt any fighter would let an opponent get that kind of power.
