Prologue
It was dark. He could hear noise all around him, but it was dark where he was. Slowly blinking his eyes, his vision changed from black to red. Closing his eyes again, the man brought his hand up to wipe away his face, hoping to improve his vision. Opening his eyes again, he notices that his armor plated, gloved hands were covered in blood.
“Blood?” the man thought. He touched his forehead to see the source of the blood, a large gash that has greatly swelled. But the blood was no longer coming out of it as it had coagulated and hardened.
The man started looking around but noticed most of his body wouldn’t move. A small amount of shock set it. “Am I paralyzed?” he thought.
Protective armor lock in place. Do you wish to release the lock?
“Where did that voice come from?” the man said to himself. If he was waiting for an answer, he did not receive on. “Alright, how do I release the armor?”
With that, his armor released the lock and the man gained full range of motion, only to fall backward and land on the ground after a short fall of 3 meters. “Shit, that hurt,” the man groaned on the ground.
Armor lock released, powering down to essential functions only. Armor will return to full functioning state upon completion of armor set. Drop pod located1.2 KM due south.
“Alright, who said that?” the man said as he starts looking around. He slowly stands up, wary of other people around him that keep telling him about his armor.
“Wait, why am I in armor?” the man said. Looking at his arm feet he can see his legs are covered in armor with a black bodysuit underneath it. His knees are covered with a small protective plate. Examining his lower legs revealed a small knife in a holder on the outside of his right leg. The outside of his left quad had what appeared to be a small health pack. His waist had a belt containing two royal blue and two brown round balls on the right. Also, there was also a light blue button and an orange button on the left side. His right forearm had a display pad that showed his distance from an object, 1.2 km away. His elbows were armored similar to his knees. Both shoulders had very sleek, minimizing protective plates over them. His chest was very simple as well. He noticed two creases on the sides that went the length of his ribs. Running his right hand over the left crease caused it to open and reveal a silver pistol.
“What the hell? A gun?” the man said to himself. He touched the crease again, cause the pistol to hide itself again. Looking down at his chest, he was able to see some letters on his chest, but was unable to make it out upside down.
“I guess I’m a solider of some type. Only place I’m going to find answers is the drop pod 1.2 km to the south. Guess that’s where I’m head,” the man thought. He looked at the screen guiding him on his forearm and turned until it said he was going south. With a sigh and a quick look at the jungle type terrain he was in, it was time to find some answers.
After taking one step, the man was stricken with a massive headache, dropping him to a knee.
Unable to diagnose injury with limited functions, please use injection in health pack to suppress pain.
With that helpful voice once again finishing, he noticed a small canister slide up out of the health pack on the outside of his left leg. After pulling out the canister, he noticed it contained a small, 2 inch long tube.
Insert medicine in appropriate slot to administer.
Looking around his body, the man couldn’t find a spot to insert the canister. The massive headache didn’t help his focus while looking either.
Insert medicine in appropriate slot to administer.
Looking at his right forearm, noticing the display screen to be the source of the voice, he noticed a diagram of a human body. The diagram zoomed into the right forearm, revealing a design similar to his forearm display. Then, the diagram turned and an arrow appeared pointing to a slot that would be just above his wrist.
Insert medicine in appropriate slot to administer.
Looking at the same spot as the diagram, he found the slot the display showed and he quickly inserted the medical canister in it, hoping to relieve the headache he was suffering. The computer on his arm quickly accepted the canister and soon the man’s headache slowly went from a throbbing pain to a mild annoyance.
Medicine will last only 1 hour. Two canisters remaining. Please locate the rest of the armor set so full diagnostics can be performed.
Looking at the display again, he noticed he had one empty red cross symbol with two still filled in the top corner of the display. “Guess I need to get moving, the computer isn’t joking.”
With the headache temporarily suppressed, the man set off to the south, through the jungle in hope of finding his drop pod and finding some answers.
For the first kilometer, all the man found was jungle, slowly getting denser. He had to pull out the knife on his leg to cut through some of the brush. What amazed his was how natural the knife felt in his hand. He was able to quickly and efficiently cut a minimal path through the brush.
“I must have been trained with this knife,” the man muttered, still not knowing his own name. “Probably means I’m a trained killer.”
As he neared the .5 km left mark, the jungle started to thin significantly. After just a few more steps, the man exited the jungle completely and found himself standing in front of a small river. Looking down, he catches his reflection in the rippling water. He could now see his short black hair, his fair skin that had a hint of tan to it and piercing green eyes. His had still supported a nasty looking gash about 4 inches above his left eye. His armor was graphite black with the black body suit underneath it. The gash was covered completely in dried blood now. But looking at his reflection, he discovered the most important detail, his name… CHAVEZ B-058.
