The days are numbered, soon the summer blockbusters will be hitting your local theatre and making a lot of random fanboys upset. With Green Lantern, Thor, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Captain America and X-Men: First Class it’s going to be a great summer. I am excited for these movies as much as I am fearful of them, but still I keep the Faith that there will be that one, that one movie that will make up for Fantastic Four and the second Punisher film. Each of these films look promising in their own way and I am praying that they will do our heroes justice. With this hope comes a vision of a geek and fanboy era. As fans already we are coming in on the ground floor of these movies, we know the history and what would be out of place in the films. When someone is wanting to know more about a movie they will seek knowledge and, you, you will need to teach them.
Like I said we have a responsibility, no… An obligation to our comic heroes and the masses for the truth to be told. I want to believe that the movies will be close to the story we know, but I am also ready, I don’t want another Gambit incident. I’m not saying that we don’t enjoy the movies but if Captain America all of a sudden was fighting Galactus then I’m saying we need to say something. “With great power comes great responsibility”, right? Yeah, that’s what I thought. So what if our power is knowledge of a nerdy passing trend, it’s real and true to us. That’s why I say we prepare for questions and prepare for corrections. Are you honestly going to tell me that you didn’t correct that Sabertooth and Wolverine were not brothers? Just, be prepared.. I am excited for the upcoming movies, I think that Hollywood has learned a lesson from the recent past and will get it right. I know I mentioned Fantastic Four earlier and how bad it was even with that it still made money, and now they are “rebooting” it. A new movie with probably a whole new origin story and we’ll go see it and make a fuss about it.This is our time to use our powers for good, teach the curious world of our culture. Don’t hate the masses, but embrace their ignorance and teach them.
Okay, with that said, I am very excited about Green Lantern, and even Thor! I have faith that Kenneth Branagh is a great fit for a crappy character. He makes Thor look interesting, so I will admit I can’t wait. I really am excited for what’s coming out this summer and those in the future. I guess I wanted to share that with everyone and hopes everyone will seek the truth behind the movies. You can always email me firstname.lastname@example.org. I will be happy to research or answer any of your questions. Or even leave a comment. That works too.
